Speech Therapy in Arlington & Northern Virginia

Northern Virginia has one of the deepest sets of pediatric speech-language providers in the state — private clinics across Arlington, Fairfax, and Alexandria, hospital-affiliated programs, and school-based services. Several clinics emphasize AAC and a total-communication approach, and some NoVA families use DC- or Maryland-based providers depending on coverage.

Three main pathways deliver speech therapy in NoVA:

• Early intervention (under 3): Speech-language services are a core part of the Infant & Toddler Connection.
• School-based: If communication affects education, speech-language services can be written into an IEP by Arlington or Fairfax County Public Schools (or your division).
• Clinic-based / medical: Private and hospital clinics provide medically-oriented speech therapy, covered by insurance, Cardinal Care Medicaid, FEHB, or TRICARE.

These can run in parallel — a child might get school-based speech during the day and clinic-based AAC support after hours.
