Autism Resources in Utah
A statewide guide to autism services in Utah — for families along the Wasatch Front in Salt Lake City, Provo and Orem, and Ogden, in St. George and the southwest, and across the state's rural counties.
Utah has some real strengths for autism families: a strong state insurance mandate that, since 2020, covers autism treatment including ABA with no age or hour caps; Medicaid coverage of ABA through the EPSDT benefit; the statewide Baby Watch early-intervention program; and the University of Utah's Huntsman Mental Health Institute as an academic hub for diagnosis and research. It also has real gaps — a long waiting list for DSPD waiver services, and far less capacity outside the Wasatch Front.
This page walks through how the pieces fit together and where to start.
