Autism Resources in Connecticut
A statewide guide to autism services across Connecticut — for families in New Haven, Hartford, Stamford, Bridgeport, Waterbury, and communities across the state.
Connecticut has some genuine strengths. The Yale Child Study Center in New Haven is one of the most historically important autism research and clinical centers in the world. Connecticut Children's in Hartford anchors central Connecticut. The state's insurance mandate is among the stronger ones — no age cap and no dollar cap on covered visits. And Connecticut has a well-developed Birth to Three early intervention system. The main frictions are waitlists and, historically, low Medicaid (HUSKY) reimbursement rates that have limited the number of providers accepting Medicaid.
This page walks through how the pieces fit together and where the gaps are.
We've written this as a starting point. Connecticut readers who know specifics better than we do — tell us what we got wrong or missed.
