Autism Resources in Vermont
A statewide guide to autism services across Vermont — for families in Burlington, South Burlington, Essex, Rutland, and communities across a small, rural state.
Vermont's autism services concentrate around Burlington, where the University of Vermont Medical Center and UVM Children's Hospital anchor diagnosis and specialty care, and the University's Vermont Center for Children, Youth and Families runs an autism assessment clinic. Vermont funds most autism services through Medicaid (branded Green Mountain Care), delivers early intervention through Children's Integrated Services, and administers adult developmental disability services through the DDSD and a network of designated agencies. Vermont also has a comparatively strong insurance mandate — coverage from birth to 21, with parity to other conditions.
This page walks through how the pieces fit together and where the gaps are.
