Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium (Mote SEA)

Aquarium

Designated an Autism Friendly Business by CARD at the University of South Florida. Now at Mote SEA, 225 University Town Center Drive, after the City Island aquarium closed in July 2025. Sensory Saturday opens the aquarium an hour early (8:30–9:30am) exclusively for visitors with sensory processing differences or autism, under soft lighting without heavy crowds; Mote is not currently listing upcoming dates, so call before planning around it. A limited number of sensory-friendly backpacks are available at the front desk with an ID exchange, and Mote publishes a sensory guide.
