St. Petersburg has one genuinely excellent program: Great Explorations closes the museum to the public for sensory mornings, which is a stronger accommodation than the more common approach of simply opening early. Runs sensory-friendly programming on the second Sunday of each month, 10am–12pm, with the museum closed to the public, lights and sounds turned down and a cool-down room; a shorter session runs the second Saturday, 9–10am.
