Autism Summer Camps in Missoula, Montana

Missoula, as western Montana's hub, has more summer program options than most of the region, though dedicated autism-specific summer camps are limited — as they are across rural Montana. Families often piece together a summer from adaptive recreation, inclusive community programs, and shorter day options.

Adaptive recreation. Missoula Adaptive Recreation & Sports (MARS) offers adaptive programs — including cycling and warm-weather activities — and the City of Missoula runs inclusive recreation programming. Note that, unlike Billings, Bozeman, and Great Falls, Missoula does not have an Eagle Mount chapter, so these local organizations are the starting point.

Inclusive programs. Parks and recreation, the YMCA, and community summer programs may accommodate autistic children with advance planning — ask about their experience, staff training, and willingness to make accommodations.

Funding. Some Medicaid waiver services and respite funding can help offset costs of eligible programs; ask your DDP contact. Given Montana's limited options, planning early — often in winter or early spring — matters.
