Speech Therapy in Columbus, Ohio
What speech-language therapy really covers — communication, not just talking — and how to find and fund it in Central Ohio.
Speech-language therapy is one of the most widely used and well-evidenced supports for autistic children. In Columbus it's available through Nationwide Children's, private clinics, Help Me Grow (for the youngest children), and schools. This page explains what it does, where to find it, and how Ohio funds it.
Speech Therapy in Columbus specifically
In Central Ohio, speech-language therapy is available through several channels:
- Nationwide Children's Hospital and other hospital-affiliated outpatient therapy programs
- Private speech therapy clinics across Columbus, Dublin, Westerville, Hilliard, and the suburbs, some specializing in autism and AAC
- Help Me Grow for children under 3 — free early intervention that often includes speech-language services, coordinated through the Franklin County Board of DD
- School-based speech therapy through your district's IEP for eligible students
Availability is generally better than for some other services, though clinics specializing in AAC or in complex communication needs can have waitlists. Telehealth speech therapy is also an option for many families and works reasonably well for a range of goals.
