Raising Brilliance

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is the most-funded autism therapy in Tennessee — and one of the most debated. This guide covers how families in Memphis and the surrounding Mid-South typically access it, what coverage looks like, and what to weigh when choosing a provider.

Coverage in Tennessee is relatively broad, but access is not instant. TennCare generally covers ABA for children through EPSDT, and Tennessee''s insurance mandate requires many private plans to cover it. Even so, provider waitlists in the Memphis area can run months, so it helps to get on more than one list early.

ABA is not the only path, and a good provider will say so. Speech therapy, occupational therapy, and other approaches are legitimate parts of many children''s plans. Treat this as a starting point and verify specifics with any provider directly.
