Speech Therapy in Savannah, Georgia

What speech-language therapy actually does for autistic children — including nonspeaking and minimally speaking kids — and how to find it in coastal Georgia.

Speech Therapy in Savannah specifically

Savannah has a solid set of pediatric speech-language providers for a mid-sized city.

Where to find SLPs. Pediatric therapy clinics in the area — including Live Oak Children's Therapy — provide speech-language therapy for autistic children, and the ABA centers that offer wraparound services (such as Hopebridge and ABLE Kids) include speech therapy on site for children in their programs. Memorial Health's pediatric services and private practices add options. Some SLPs offer AAC evaluation and support; ask specifically if that's a need.

Through the schools. If your child qualifies, the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System provides speech-language services through the IEP process at no cost — though school services are targeted at educational goals and may be less intensive than clinical therapy.

Funding. Ava's Law requires state-regulated insurance to cover medically necessary autism therapies, and Georgia Medicaid covers speech therapy. Coverage details and visit limits vary by plan, so verify benefits.

Waits. Vary by clinic; getting on more than one waitlist is common.
