Summer can be a gift or a grind, depending on what you can line up. Naperville and DuPage County have a range of camps — from fully specialized autism and special-needs programs to inclusive mainstream camps with support. WDSRA (Western DuPage Special Recreation Association) Camps

Special recreation day camps

Summer, seasonal, and school-district co-op day camps for ages 3 to 21, run by the special recreation cooperative that Naperville Park District belongs to. Staff can provide 1:1 support depending on need, and needs-based scholarships exist — registration windows are seasonal and fill, so watch the brochure dates.

Autism-specific recreation and camp program

Regional — Lisle, about 10 minutes from Naperville. Runs full-day and afternoon summer camps plus after-school and social groups for autistic students ages 5 and up, priced per day with separate rates for group versus 1:1 support. This is private-pay, not insurance-billed, so budget accordingly.

Naperville Park District – WDSRA Inclusion Services

Inclusion support for mainstream park district camps

If you want your child in a typical Park District summer camp, WDSRA provides an inclusion aide at no extra charge — you pay only the regular program fee. Flag the accommodation on the registration form and give at least two weeks' notice so staffing can be arranged.
