Adaptive Swim Lessons in Boston, Massachusetts

Water safety is not optional for autistic kids — drowning is a leading cause of death for children, and autistic children are drawn to water at higher rates than their peers. Boston has real adaptive swim programs built for exactly this, from the city's own pools to specialized instruction, and this page lists the verified ones.

Adaptive swim means lessons redesigned around a child who needs one-on-one attention, sensory accommodations, flexible pacing, and instructors trained in autism — not a crowded group class where a struggling swimmer falls behind. Below is what genuinely adaptive instruction looks like, why it matters for safety, and which Boston-area programs we could confirm are running.
