Speech Therapy in Gulfport specifically

The Gulf Coast has pediatric speech-language providers across Gulfport, Biloxi, and the surrounding communities.

Where to find SLPs. Private pediatric therapy clinics and hospital outpatient rehab services in the area provide speech-language therapy for autistic children, and the ABA centers that offer wraparound services (such as MCARDD and some others) include speech therapy for children in their programs. Some SLPs offer AAC evaluation and support; ask specifically if that's a need. For younger children, Mississippi First Steps provides speech services as part of early intervention.

Through the schools. If your child qualifies, the Gulfport and Harrison County school districts provide speech-language services through the IEP process at no cost — though school services target educational goals and may be less intensive than clinical therapy.

Funding. Mississippi Medicaid covers medically necessary speech therapy, and the state insurance mandate covers therapeutic care including speech services where the plan covers them. Coverage details and visit limits vary by plan, so verify benefits.

Waits. Vary by clinic and are affected by statewide provider shortages; getting on more than one waitlist is common.
