Autism Summer Camps in Manchester, New Hampshire

Finding a summer camp that actually works for your autistic child in the Manchester area — and knowing what to ask before you commit.

Summer camp can be a genuinely good thing — new skills, friendships, a break in routine, and respite for parents — or a hard mismatch. The difference is almost always in the fit and the staff, not the brochure.

There is no single right kind of camp. Below is how to think about the choice and how to vet a program honestly.

Autism Summer Camps in Manchester specifically

Specific summer programs in the Manchester area change from year to year, and slots for specialized camps fill early, so this is a place to start planning in winter, not late spring. Rather than name programs that may not run this season, we suggest working the channels that stay current.

Your best local sources are the ones already in your child's life: the Moore Center (your area agency for greater Manchester), Easterseals NH, your child's therapists, and the Manchester School District's special-education staff often know which camps run locally and which have worked for families like yours. NH Family Voices and the Parent Information Center can also point you toward current options and inclusion supports.

On funding: some families can use the state's developmental disability services or respite funding toward camp or summer supports through their area agency — ask the Moore Center what applies to your child. For children whose IEP includes extended school year (ESY) services, the Manchester School District provides summer programming as part of the education plan, which is a different track from recreational camp but worth knowing about.
