Denton has an unusual asset for a city its size: a university autism center right in town. The University of North Texas runs an autism center on South I-35E, and Denton ISD provides special education across the district. What Denton does not have is a verified autism-specific private school within city limits - for that, families look south into the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex. And Texas families need to read the new voucher program carefully before counting on it.
The district states that educational programs for students with autism spectrum disorders are provided across a continuum of settings and service arrangements rather than in a single placement.
