Occupational Therapy in Portland, Maine

Occupational therapy, or OT, is often the support that helps daily life feel more manageable — for your child and for your whole family. If mealtimes, getting dressed, handwriting, or a noisy grocery store regularly turn into a crisis, OT is frequently the therapy that addresses the "why" underneath.

For autistic children, a lot of OT centers on sensory processing: how a child takes in and responds to sound, touch, movement, and other input. A good occupational therapist helps a child regulate and participate, without treating the child's sensory needs as misbehavior.

In Portland and greater southern Maine, OT is available through early intervention, schools, and clinics. This page explains what it does and how to find it here.
