Speech therapy in Ann Arbor: finding the right support

Speech-language therapy is one of the most useful and least controversial supports for many autistic children, and Ann Arbor — with the University of Michigan and a network of private clinics — has strong options. This page explains where to find it, how it is funded, and what to look for in a therapist who respects how your child communicates.

Mary A. Rackham Institute — Speech & Language Therapy

University speech-language clinic

U-M's outpatient speech clinic evaluates articulation, expressive and receptive language, and phonological awareness for all ages, with evaluations running 2-4 hours. Families get a written report with home and school recommendations, plus individual therapy and a K-8 reading intervention program. It is a training clinic, so ask who will be treating your child and how supervision works.
