Autism support groups in Detroit: finding your people

Few things help a family more than talking to other parents who have been where you are. Metro Detroit has a mix of formal support groups, organization-led programs, and informal online communities. This page points you toward them and explains why connecting is worth the effort.

Autism Society of Greater Detroit — Parent Peer Support Group

Parent-led peer support group (Autism Society affiliate)

The local Autism Society affiliate covering Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, St. Clair and Washtenaw counties. The parent peer group meets virtually, typically the fourth Friday of the month, and is open to parents of children of all ages and abilities. It is explicitly parent-led rather than therapist-led and offers no professional advice — email them to get on the Zoom list.
